Do I need a CoinGecko account or API key?

No — the plugin works out of the box without any API key. However, the anonymous public endpoint is rate-limited to 5–15 requests per minute, which can cause delays if your portfolio contains many coins or refreshes frequently. We recommend adding a free CoinGecko Demo API key (no credit card required) which raises the limit to a stable 30 requests/min. You can get one at coingecko.com/en/api in under 2 minutes.

Is my portfolio data private or visible to everyone?

You have full control. The admin dashboard is visible only to you (logged-in WordPress admin). Frontend shortcodes display only what you choose to embed on a public page — and you decide which page, if any. If you don't add a shortcode, nothing is publicly visible.

How many portfolios can I have on the free plan?

The free version includes 1 portfolio with unlimited transactions and coins. Upgrading to Premium removes this limit and allows unlimited portfolios per site — useful if you want to track separate wallets, strategies, or accounts independently.

Does it work with Elementor, Divi, Gutenberg, or other page builders?

Yes. Sakurato uses standard WordPress shortcodes which work inside any page builder — Elementor, Divi, Bricks, Gutenberg (Classic block), WPBakery, and any theme. Just paste the shortcode into a text or shortcode block and publish.

What happens to my data if I deactivate the plugin?

Your data remains in the WordPress database until you explicitly delete it. Deactivating the plugin only removes scheduled tasks — it does not delete your portfolios, transactions, or snapshots. If you want to fully clean up, use the Export function first to save a backup, then uninstall.

Is the plugin open source?

Yes. Sakurato Crypto Portfolio Tracker is licensed under the GNU General Public License v2 (GPL). The source code is available on WordPress.org. The Premium version's additional features are also GPL-licensed.

Does it support tax reporting?

The plugin does not generate official tax reports. However, it calculates realized P/L using FIFO cost basis, and Premium users can export full transaction history (Buy, Sell, Withdrawal, Tax Summary) as CSV — which you can then import into your tax software or share with your accountant.

How often are prices updated?

Prices are fetched from CoinGecko and cached for 10 minutes. You can manually trigger a refresh at any time from the dashboard using the Refresh button. The cache duration balances API rate limits with data freshness — for most long-term investors, 10-minute intervals are more than sufficient.
